Paradores Filipinas: Spanish-inspired Airbnb in Calatagan
Nowadays, there’s a lot of Airbnb and resorts that you can book overnight. That’s why finding something with unique character that’s also accessible to the beach is indeed a gem and will really make your stay worth it. This is what Paradores Filipinas made us feel. And here are the 5 important questions, answered honestly to answer if this one is also right for you.
1. Where is it located?
Paradores Filipinas is located at Calatagan Highway, Calatagan Batangas. It’s around 3 to 3.5 hours away from Manila via Skyway, SLEX and CALAX. You’ll pass by some famous resorts such as Stilts, Ybonita Farm and Crusoe Cabins. Finding this Airbnb is not that hard as its entrance is just along the highway. No rough roads, no confusing roads, no wasted time figuring out where it is.
2. What’s nice about Paradores Filipinas?
The design
Stone walls, arched windows, high ceiling and the minimalist interior of Paradores Filipinas set this apart from other resort/Airbnb near the area. Every part of their property as they say is “Instagram worthy”.
Aside from high ceiling and spacious interior, the outdoor also added to the character of this place. They have an outdoor space for dining and grilling. Plus the open space added to the relaxing ambiance.
The Appliances
Think about the basic appliances that you need to make your staycation more convenient, and yes they do have it. You can check the complete list of appliances here.
Aside from these, they also have complete utensils, plates, mugs, glasses and cooking equipment. Cooking our dinner in their nice kitchen is actually one of the highlights of our stay.
The freebies
Little surprises will always delight the guests! They have complimentary fruits, drinks and they served brownies during our breakfast. Not necessary but it’s definitely a plus!
Beach Access
Paradores Filipinas is not a beachfront cabin. But it has its private access to the beach that’s just a 2-3 minute walk. Along the way, you’ll see other weekend or vacation houses maybe, making it a pleasant walk.
3. What tips and reminders does Travel Brew have?
Afternoon sun.
Though the property has high ceiling and sliding doors, since the property is facing the afternoon sun, it gets quite hot especially in the afternoon. The aircon is located on the second floor (loft) and it’s not intended to cool the whole area. However, there are three electric fans on the ground floor to address it. In the afternoon, it’s our son’s nap time so we just stayed and enjoyed upstairs.
Distance from the Beach
Take note that this is not a beachfront property so expect a little walking before reaching the beach.
Insect Repellent
We had a very good dinner outside and just like most outdoor areas, don’t forget your insect repellants especially if you have kids. We weren’t bothered by it but we chose to stay inside right after our dinner.
Beach and Tide
Level your expectations and try to check the tide as Calatagan is known for having low tides. You can check our Crusoe Cabins video here, a beachfront cabin where we also experienced low tide. For this stay, we were able to swim the following day as it was low tide in the afternoon.
Paradores Filipinas can accommodate a max of 4 people so this is perfect for families, and small groups. The space is huge enough and given the available appliances such as air fryer, induction stove and complete cooking materials, preparing your dinner or breakfast can be an activity itself. You can also grill some fish, barbecue and other food outside.
The outdoor is also spacious giving you the perfect time to breathe in and relax! Eventhough the beach during our stay was not that amazing, the stay itself in Paradores is already worth it.
5. How much and how to book?
We spent around Php 10,000+ for an overnight stay here and to know more about what it offers or if you want to book directly, just click here.
